The Girl With The Purple Cane

My name is Megan Elaine, I'm a philosopher suffering from autoimmune arthritis, which means that I am essentially allergic to my joints. I've often been "undiagnosed" as "chronic pain, we know not what." I've tried ibuprofen,naproxen, sulindac, diclofenac, meloxicam, peroxicam, pregabalin, gabapentin, amitriptiline, prozac, (for when the doctors think it's actually fibro...) sulfasalazine, prednisone, Plaquenil and methotrexate, and medical marijuana, as well as far too many drug holidays with absolutely no medication. These are chronic illness musings.

Asking for help is
fucking terrifying, but
it’s necessary.
Internalized Ableism (A Haiku)

atomicdomme:

a lot of people talk like capitalism is necessary to have innovation and I just think of all the brilliant and creative people I know who spend all of their time and energy worrying about how they’re going to have a roof over their heads and food to eat. capitalism doesn’t drive innovation, it stifles it and shackles it to the endlessly wasteful machinery of exploitation.

This is just to say;
I apologize for times
when pain makes me weak.

Moving forward, still
this body isn’t positive.
Crippled, but not dead.
If I had a joint for every joint in my body that is aching right now…
I wouldn’t have any achy joints right now.
